Leadership @ HBC
As a Baptist Church we seek to discern together how God is leading and guiding us as a Church. Our Members are encouraged to input into this process and ultimately to vote for the vision and plans of the Church. We have Pastors and Ministry Leaders who provide leadership for day-to-day activities, regular planning, and the implementation of the agreed vision and plans of the Church. Our Elders Court (including our Pastors) provide governance and oversight of the Church.

More about our Pastors:
Both of our Pastors have proven Pastoral and Leadership gifts. From 1999 to 2017 Darcy was Pastor and Team Leader here at HBC. While remaining our Pastor, Darcy now shares this role with Rāwiri. Prior to 1999, Darcy had many years as a Pastor in Christchurch having previously worked as a Police Officer. Darcy brings a wealth of experience, a depth of prayerful, orthodox, Christian spirituality, and delights in seeing the Church engaging with and growing in its diverse community. Rāwiri, having grown up at HBC, has had two previous ministry roles here. First, from 2000 to 2004 he was our Youth Pastor, and then from 2015 to 2017 our Associate Pastor. Between these two times Rāwiri held pastoral roles in Rotorua and Hawera. Rāwiri is an inquisitive communicator and thrives on big picture thinking. His Māori heritage and conciliatory disposition mean that he brings an enriching perspective to the life of the Church.
